Return Canoe Van Buren 2005

Day 2

A hazy blue sky, high wispy clouds, river running good and fast, 100 people 60 boats, friendly volunteers, good food, historic and scenic sites, a newly established water trail = a great day.

The T-shirts are awesome, the scenery was wonderful, I loved the stores and the fudge.  Also, the new water trail brochure is very informative as well as attractive and inviting.  Please note that the Douds Access is not yet available (2006).

Van Buren county is #1 in tourism, canoe floats, and water trails.  Thanks again for the memories, we'll be back.  And it was so nice to have a day without lightning   (which cut the float short last year.)

PS:  Having paddled Selma to Keosauqua at least a half dozen times, I opted to explore the Illiniwick village near Wayland, MO on Saturday.  By all accounts, Day 1 was also a smashing success.

Note:

The page background was taken by pointing the camera, with a polarizing lens, right at the sun.

With a 1 gigabyte memory card, I could take all pictures I wanted.  I have very high resolution images from which these photos were made, as well as some extensive video.   These will no doubt make their way into slide shows.  I have also provided the high resolution images to the Villages staff.
